How To Hear From God

As a child of God, the bible says recognizing God's voice should be second nature to us. You can't be His sheep and not know His voice, you also cant be His child and not know His voice. But because God is a Spirit we need to learn how to hear Him through our Spirit, we have become so used to being mortals that we forget we are also an Immortal spirit and we need to build ourselves spiritually to operate with God. There are so many distracting voices in our heads that It is harder to pick Gods's voice but this post will teach you how to tune your antenna to Gods frequency, it will take practice practice practice but it will reap rewards. There is nothing more powerful than being able to hear the Creator speak to you.

John 10:4-5 KJV

And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice. [5] And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.

The following are the ways God speaks to us:

1. The Inner Witness:

Now, the bible says the primary way God speaks to us is through the Inner witness i.e., the Holy Spirit in us and He speaks in 3 main ways.

You will just feel a check inside you like a traffic light. If you're about to enter a one-chance bus you'll just feel a nudging saying No don't do it, even when you want to sin you will feel that nudge. Also, you can feel a positive nudge like a green light saying yes go or yes obey this.

Romans 8:16 KJV,

The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

2. A still small voice within you:

This is a gentle voice within you that just tells you what to do. It sounds like it's your ear hearing but it’s your inner ear hearing it because no one else around you will hear it.

Isaiah 30:21 KJV

And, thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, this is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.

3. The Bible:

As you study the bible a scripture can just speak to you all of a sudden and inside you, you know what God is asking you to do. Now... there are other ways God speaks to people. But when He speaks in those ways you must learn to ask Him for a scripture to back up what He just said.

4. A Vision:

A vision is where God shows you what to do visually. There are 2 main kinds of visions, one is where you watch it like it’s a TV, another is when you are inside the vision yourself almost like a dream. But it’s not a dream because visions happen when you are awake not when you're sleeping.

This is what John saw that made him write the book of revelations. It was a vision. This hardly happens unless you are deeply praying and fasting.

5. A Dream:

Dreams come when you're asleep and God speaks to you in the dream. I'm sure you know what a dream is clearly.

Now understand that dreams and visions are the easiest to misinterpret so if you are not a mature believer always ask God to give you a bible confirmation and also get a confirmation from your spiritual mentor. This will help you safely interpret what you saw.

The bible passages would usually come from a clear hearing from the inner witness because those are the primary ways God speaks to us. His Word and His inner Witness

6. Gods Audible Voice:

Now, remember the other one is an inner voice still small voice. God can also speak audibly and loudly. Just the way He spoke when Jesus was transfigured and when Jesus was Baptised. This is very rare and it's usually to people who have grown very close to God.

7. God physically appearing to you:

This is the rarest. Where God comes physically as Jesus and speaks to you, no trance or vision, literally comes and can even sit on your bed and talk to you. This is extremely rare and happens to those very very close to Jesus.

SIGNS TO KNOW IT IS GOD WHO HAS SPOKEN:

1. You will feel unexplainable peace within. When the instructions/hearing happens, there would be a constant nudging, and once you obey, you would feel the peace of doing the right thing

2. What you heard will agree with the word of God totally.

3. God will usually confirm it through someone else who is higher than you spiritually.

UNDERSTAND THAT GOD IS A SPIRIT

God is a spirit and to hear a spirit clearly you also need to be a spirit. Fasting and praying in tongues makes you more of a spirit which helps you hear God much much clearer.

Studying your bible also elevates your faith and when your faith is high you will be able to clearly discern between God's voice and your mind.

Hebrews 4:12 KJV For, the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

PRACTICAL STEPS TO HEARING FROM GOD

1. Start a fast, set times to pray with a pen and book with absolutely no distractions.

2. When you pray during the fast begin with thanksgiving and worship of things. He has done for you and teaching you just got. Enter his gates with thanksgiving, understand that you are about to speak to and hear from a KING.

3. Worship Him next, worship brings God to you.

4. Ask for Mercy for both your sins and mercy for God to speak in a way that you will understand.

5. Then ask specific questions in prayer, go to inquire not to make demands.

6. Once you have asked either be quiet and listen or pray in tongues but listen to hear what God’s response is. Don't leave until you get a message, it may come in any of the 7 ways I have outlined God speaks so be ready.

7. Once God speaks write it down even if you doubt what you heard still write it down. After writing down give thanks to God for what you have heard and ask Him to please send a confirmation for what He told you. After that, you can end the prayer.

Jeremiah 33:3 KJV Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.

 Habakkuk 2:1-3 KJV

I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what he will say unto me, and what I shall answer when I am reproved. [2] And the Lord answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. [3] For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.
