Prayer Power Series Part 2
THE POWER OF PRAYER TO CHANGE YOU
(Bible Text: 2 Corr 5:17, Galatians 5:24)
Previously we spoke about the nature of the Kingdom we have been called into but we left out one very vital part. That part is simply this, the Kingdom of Jesus is one of Purity and Holiness and finally one of Humility and Power.
So what does this mean for us? it means to be a qualified soldier we must be pure and Holy, Humble and filled with Power.
Now God says all of us together are one body but He doesn't want a body or army where the head is pure but the legs are in sin, or the mouth is pure and free but the hands are in chains. It will be a very lopsided body and hence a very ineffective army. So He wants to deal with us all individually first before then dealing with us as a body.
I will once again outline 5 points to help us understand this. The main question here is okay i hear them say be Holy, be Holy but how do i become Holy and Pure in conscience and in deed ?
1. The first issue to deal with is the problem of identity. The Bible says when we are in Christ we are new creatures. it also says we have been crucified with him and are resurrected as new beings fueled by the Holy Spirit, and finally it says we are born of water and the Spirit when we are born again. All these show that we cant call ourselves normal human beings anymore because we now have a redeemed soul, a resurrected spirit and access to God. Hence we are to be as pure and filled with power as God intends.
2. The issue is well i believe this but its not manifesting in my life. I'm still falling repeatedly into sins even though i don't want to. Let me give you an illustration to help you understand why. You see if you had a family bondage before getting saved being saved doesn't break that bondage only prayer and fasting does. Now we feel that its normal to lie, steal, fornicate since we are just normal humans but no no you aren't normal anymore and you need to pray and fast to break the hold of those sins on you. One of the main things the Bible does for you is to show you things in your life that aren't of God so you can change them and sorry you cant change them by self will or pretense you must pray them out, this is why the Bible says its like a mirror, many of us look see and see the flaws but just leave like we didn't see anything or we feel condemned. No He's showing you because there is a solution and He wants you to be pure.
3. Let me give another relatable illustration. If i tell most of us here to follow me to rob a bank or kill someone we will say No instantly. Why? because its not a familiar sin to us, yet some of us easily say yes to fornication, why ? because its a familiar sin. Now the Bible says God doesn't tempt any man, a man is drawn away by his own LUST and therefore it produces sin and then death (James 1:13-15). Now what this means is that its useless to fight temptation, it will still come, its also useless to fight Sin, its simply the fruit of you accepting the temptation. SO what do we deal with > we seal with LUST! if you remove the lust you cant be enticed by the temptation or your flesh and you cant sin, simple. And believe it or not you can ask God to make a familiar sin unfamiliar in your life. Some here may have experienced this and its glorious. We in this generation have underestimated the power of prayer mostly because we are too lazy to pray through, Faith doesn't mean you believe in an instant answer it means you will hold on to the word until you get your answer.
4. Now there are two types of bondages. Bondage by evil Spirits and the Bondage of Ignorance. The bondage by evil Spirits is easier to deal with, let me show you how you will know you're in this bondage. If you seriously have tried not to commit a sin and yet you still do then you're in bondage of a Spirit because its held you down to make sure you always obey it, but the Bible says Sin shall no longer have dominion over you! so no Sin should have dominion over you. You must go on an urgent fast using Isaiah 58 to pray and break its dominion over you no matter how long it takes do not give up till you are victorious. Some bondages aren't obvious, if you see that a lady cant walk past you as a guy without your eyes trailing her my brother you're in bondage, if you see as a sister you cant help but gossip my dear you're in bondage. Temptation should be in a way that you have the power to say NO!.
The second bondage is that of Ignorance. The Bible says my people suffer for lack of knowledge. For example you have been living under the bondage of fear of your enemies. Only if you knew that God has set you in Christ high above principalities and powers, only if you know the God is your defense, only when you realize that God made all that is in existence and how then can you fear a fellow creation when you have the Creator himself on your side? If God be for us who dares to be against us?.. So people in this category need to really study the word and allow the Holy Spirit teach them.
5. Now there are some here who are in no Spiritual bondage but just enjoy sin, may i say once again that this is very dangerous. Let me give you an illustration if you know the devil wants you dead and he hates you why then are you taking his advice to disobey God ? you think he likes you ? No he wants you dead, you think because you're not dying immediately then you're fine ? No no the devil is luring you into being comfortable with sin so that when He attacks it will be one hit and you're gone. He wants to harden your heart till you see no need to repent and then you will commit that sin like before and snap you're gone. Samson didn't know when God had left him, ask yourself has God left me too? If God doesn't correct or convict you anymore it means you're now a bastard and at the mercy of your enemies. Repent today.
Conclusion:
All of us are going to have our lives in Christ tested by a wind, if your foundation is strong and you have dealt with sins that used to be a problem on the altar of prayer crucifying them to the cross your building will stand, if not your building will fall and God help you you haven't built a Sky scrapper of ministry on that faulty foundation because the crash will be too bad. For some saying but i cant kill my flesh yes you cant but you can have dominion over it and you can kill lust. Some of you say No God cant make a familiar sin unfamiliar, to them i remind them that God who cannot lie said, "I am the God of all flesh, is there anything too hard for me?" Hes telling you just as He can manipulate Spirits He can Manipulate flesh too! How did a murderer become a great evangelist in Paul? its the same that can happen to you, do not suppress bondages any longer break them in prayer because any weakness or bondage you suppress will become a thorn in your flesh later on. Paul said in Hebrews 12:1, let us lay aside every weight and every sin that easily besets us. If it wasn't possible to lay it aside he won't tell us to do so.
The end times are here if you need to deal with anything deal with it now else you may be run over. We must all be pure and strong so when we begin battle one will indeed chase a 1000 and two 10,000 but these two must be Holy else they will chase Zero thousand instead they will run from the enemy.
Finally after dealing with all these whats Gods expectation or plan? (Hebrews 8:10-12) He said in the new covenant He will write His laws upon our hearts and put it in our inward parts, we will know Him so well that no man will need to teach the other about God, we will have a new heart and new Spirit, we will know our God and do great exploits, We will be as bright lights leading many to Christ and in place of the works of the flesh we will manifest the fruits of the Spirit. We will cast out demons and deliver the oppressed, we will become a terror to the enemy. Since these are Gods words we must pray them into manifestation, Elijah said "I hear the sound of the abundance of rain" yet he had to travail in prayer 7times before it manifested in the physical. My brothers and sisters TRAVAIL upon Gods word until His promises of a spotless church, a spotless YOU becomes a reality.
Prayer Points:
1. Lord in your mercy make any familiar sin in my life unfamiliar, let every sin i used to enjoy begin to irritate me.
2. Lord search me and if there's any bondage in my life reveal to me and break by your fire. I cant deliver others as you want if i'm a captive too, so lord deliver me speedily.
3. Lord empty me of self so that you can fill me with You.
4. Lord if my foundation is faulty in any way please remold it and rebuild me.
5. Father help my faith and pour upon me the Spirit of prayer that i may pray till my deliverance is sure.
6. Lord let your new covenant be made manifest in my life, let the old man in me pass away and let me become truly new in Christ. Lord work on me until the fruit of the Spirit are manifest in my life. Help me not be careless after I've been delivered by feeling too strong to flirt with sin again without being put back into bondage.
7. Lord i am tired of being an ordinary weak Christian, Swallow me up by your spirit, baptize me with fire and make me a terror to the camp of the enemy.
